Come into my kitchen. Let me explain Japan to you.

As we cook together, I share the stories, customs, values, our history, and everyday habits that shape life in Japan. Through food, family stories, seasonal traditions, kitchen tools, and even the little things my family is currently enjoying, you’ll discover “the Japan” that exists beyond guidebooks and tourist attractions.

Along the way, you’ll also begin to notice the seasons through food — what is coming into season, what Japanese kitchens look forward to at different times of the year, and how closely the changing seasons are woven into the way we eat and live.

Each lesson leaves you with more than new cooking skills. You’ll come away with a deeper understanding of Japanese culture, our behavior, family life, and the little details that make Japan feel like home.
