This month is about our December event; Winter Solstice and New Year’s Eve and we will learn about the events while we learn to cook Year End SOBA noodles, YU DOFU (Japanese TOFU hotpot) and ITOKO NI (simmered pumpkin dish eaten on winters solstice day)

Not very much because our field turned into a jungle after so many months of abandoning it and we're resetting it again. Plowed and sowed all day!

OMG!!! Never was a big fan of SHIITAKE mushrooms b

OMG!!! Never was a big fan of SHIITAKE mushrooms but this one was by far the best ever!!
Popped one in a griller and drizzled some Croatian truffle oil with a dash of soy sauce.
It was soooo delicious I was about to eat the rest of mushrooms all by myself😂 🍄
Come to think of it, truffles are mushrooms too, off course they go well💕
(Thank you so much for such an amazing tasting truffle oil @kaymetcalf_ !! )
夫が買って来てくれた立派なシイタケ。
試しに魚焼きグリルで焼いて、クロアチア土産でいただいたトリュフオイルとお醤油をサラっとかけてみたら、あまりの美味しさにビックリ‼️
シイタケってそんなに好きな方ではなかったけど、これならいくつでもいただけちゃう✨
そりゃそうだね、トリュフもキノコだから、合う訳だぁ💕

In our October class, we will learn about our SHICHIGOSAN (celebration of child growth) event and to cook some festive dishes ie OSEKIHAN (red bean rice) and CHAWAN MUSHI (savory egg custard) with some TOUCH OF JAPAN stories behind the recipes.

Just as you have events and holidays unique to your home country, we have many special events throughout the year, which are strongly associated with special food or dishes that are prepared for that particular day.

This is a monthly course which focus on cooking special dishes for each month’s Japanese event. Not only you will learn to cook the dishes, you will learn about our customs, the history of our different events which are sure to make your life in Japan a more memorable, fun experience for you (and your family and friends)! You will be just amazed by how our ancestors defined every little detail with such special meaning behind it.

YES! you can start from any time of the year and

YES! you can also select only the months that interests you.

BUT! you’d probably wish to take them all, because there is always so much you can learn!

By the time you finish all 12, not only you will be an total expert on Japanese culture, learning about our different food ingredients will definitely make your trips to local supermarkets a much happier routine for you!
