Your Choice: Sushi or Onigiri Tiny chefs get to choose their path! Depending on your choice, we will explore 2 to 3 different creative techniques:

  • SUSHI: Create beautiful “Sushi Cupcakes” and adorable “Temari-zushi” (sushi balls).
  • ONIGIRI: Master the art of folding fun fillings and the famous “Shake-it” Onigiri method.

New Kitchen Independence One of the best parts? Your children will leave with a new skill—something healthy, delicious, and fun they can actually prepare for themselves that isn’t just another sandwich! It’s a huge boost to their kitchen confidence.

The Shiratama (Mochi) Art Project As an extra treat, kids will get hands-on with making SHIRATAMA—Japanese sweet dumplings. Using natural food coloring, it’s like playing with edible Play-Doh! Kids can roll, shape, and create their own colorful characters and designs.

A Knife-Free, Stress-Free Zone Parents can relax! This is a completely safe environment. There is no cooking or cutting involved for the children—just pure creativity in assembling, decorating, and tasting their own work.

The “Tiny Chef” Feast (Lunch) The best part! Once the masterpieces are finished, everyone will sit down together to enjoy a full, satisfying lunch featuring the very sushi or onigiri you just created. There is nothing more rewarding than eating your own delicious art!

A Little Something Kit: Everyone will bring home the specific food ingredients and tools needed to recreate the sushi or onigiri experience in your own kitchen!
Birthday Party Blueprint: You’ll leave with the perfect plan to host your own Japanese-themed “Tiny Chefs” birthday party for friends back home.
New Skills: The knowledge to sculpt colorful mochi dumplings and assemble beautiful sushi or fun and creative onigiri without needing heat or knives.
Memories & Photos: A heart full of inspiration and the joy of seeing your tiny chefs succeed in their first Japanese kitchen adventure.

By the end of this session, your children will have a brand new relationship with Japanese food—one built on play and pride. Whether they are mastering the perfect sushi ball or yummy onigir and sculpting colorful mochi, they will leave with the confidence to be “Big Chefs” and the tools to keep the fun going long after you leave Japan.

Hello, I don’t know if this is the correct place to ask you this but, do you do private or group lessons for children only on a regular basis? My son is 12 and wants to learn how to cook Japanese food. He is a native speaker.
    Thank you!
    Sincerely,
    Dina Kobayashi

    • Hi Dina! Thank you for your interest!
This is currently offered as a private, one shot lesson, and i do have monthly cooking classes for kids although they are for Japanese kids. If your son is interested though, i have simple Japanese recipes which kids can learn to cook. In either case, let me text you via email and we may be able to figure something out! Thank you!
