< Bring that dream breakfast of a Japanese Ryokan (onsen) to your table! >
Learn how to create a traditional ryokan-style breakfast — a serene, nourishing meal that embodies Japanese hospitality and seasonal harmony.
Class Introduction
In Japan, a ryokan breakfast is more than just the first meal of the day —
it is the final act of omotenashi (wholehearted hospitality).
Served with care in a quiet tatami room or by a window overlooking the mountains,
a ryokan breakfast reflects balance, seasonality, and gratitude.
Every dish is intentional — warm miso soup, freshly cooked rice, grilled fish, tamagoyaki, pickles, seasonal vegetables — arranged in harmony using the philosophy of ichiju-sansai (one soup, three dishes).
In this hands-on lesson, you will learn how to prepare this beautiful morning meal from scratch, plate with intention, and experience the peaceful rhythm of a Japanese breakfast table.
You will cook, plate, and enjoy a full ryokan-style breakfast — just like the one served at traditional Japanese inns.
