It was last year end when we sadly had to return our veggie garden, but we’re back with somewhere new! (Though it’s right next to our previous one)
So happy I can go back to using our harvest for my classes again! Can’t wait🎵

I can’t believe it!!
For some reason, I somehow misunderstood our meeting time and arrived at the restaurant an hour earlier!! No wonder the restaurant was closed😅

Found a nice cafe and decided to have a nice glass of chilled wine to console myself😭

ヤバい！
何故か待ち合わせ時間を間違えて、1時間も早くレストランに着いてしまった！！どうりでお店が空いてなかった訳だ😅

自分を慰める為に近くでカフェを探して冷えたワインをいただいてます😭

One of fun things about growing your own veggies is washing and trimming after harvest. They look so fresh and happy bathed in fresh cold water. Just love this moment of washing them while thinking about how to eat them✨
畑をやっていて楽しい事のひとつ、収穫後のお手入れ。野菜たちも綺麗なお水で洗ってもらって嬉しそう🎵どうやって食べようかなぁなんて考えながら、ひたすら洗う楽しい時間✨

KIKU IMO菊芋or Jerusalem Artichokes are one of my favorite veggies.

They are not all that rare today, but still not so commonly found in supermarket shelves yet, and so I buy them whenever I find them.

They can be eaten just like potatoes, in soups, simmered dishes or stir fried dishes, except unlike potatoes, they can be eaten uncooked in salads and such.
But my favorite is always simple deep fried with simple seasonings of salt and pepper, and my kids love it too!

Not only they’re so yummy, its health benefits are exceptional that there is no way you don’t eat them!

Just to name a few, Jerusalem artichoke is known to be rich in dietary fibers known as ‘Inulin’. These Inulins are said to control your intestinal environment, which helps improve constipation and reduce the risk of large intestine cancer, and boost immunity.

Of all the plants the live on this planet, Jerusalem artichokes are known to contain the highest amount of this ‘Inulin’.

They are also known to help control blood sugar level balance, as well as help maintain stable blood pressure, and swelling.

So!! If you ever find them on supermarket shelves, get them and try the simple deep fry. I’m sure you’ll love them too!

菊芋は私の大好きな野菜の 1 つ。
今ではそこまで珍しくもなく、
とは言え常にスーパーで買えるものでもないので
見つけるとついつい買ってしまいます。

ジャガイモと同様にスープや煮物、炒め物などにして食べることができますが、
ジャガイモと違ってサラダなどにしてそのまま生で食べることもできます。

でも、私の一番のお気に入りは、塩コショウでのシンプルな味付けのシンプルな素揚げで、
子供たちも大好き。
美味しいだけでなく、健康効果も抜群なので食べない手はありません！

その健康効果。
いくつか例を挙げると、菊芋には「イヌリン」と言う食物繊維が豊富に含まれていることが知られています。
このイヌリンは腸内環境を整え、便秘の改善や大腸がんのリスクの軽減、
免疫力の向上に効果があると言われています。

この地球上に生息するすべての植物の中で、
菊芋にはこの「イヌリン」が最も多く含まれていることが知られています。

また、血糖値のバランスを制御したり、血圧を安定させたり、
むくみを改善したりすることも知られています。

なのでもしスーパーの棚等で見かけたら
ぜひゲットして、簡単な素揚げを試してみてください。
オススメですーーー！

Went on a little excursion down to KAPPABASHI, one

Went on a little excursion down to KAPPABASHI, one of the world’s largest district devoted to kitchen tools; a true paradise for culinary lovers and cooking/baking enthusiasts!

The KAPPABASHI street stretches over 1 km of about 170 shops which specialize in anything to do with cooking and baking, ie tableware, kitchen utensils, baking equipments, food packaging, lacquer ware, bamboo ware, cooking knives, brushes, cooking pots, store signboards, chef uniforms, wax food samples… just everything!!

So here is what I got:
